I've got way too much to do to be blogging at jasonjohnsonmusic.com, since I have some other blogs floating around the "blogospehere". I'm going to limit this one to music-related stuff (but don't hold me to that too strictly). You'll find out about my weird musical tastes and quirks, likes and dislikes, opinions and musings, etc.

Let's start with this. The music I write is often described as "dated" by the Nashville music establishment. I suppose it is. That's because it's inspired by old music. Why am I inspired by old music? Because there is nothing inspiring about "new music". What is "new" music anyway? Seems that all music is based on something that inspired that musician or artist or songwriter in the past - a certain style, a certain genre, a certain sound. I believe there's a good market for "dated' music out there.

The more I write and record, the more motivated I am to return to the rootsy music I grew up listening to as a teenager. It's what I know and love.

I'll be back to write something more soon, I'm sure. Until then...

JJ
